Facilities
Helicopter
A modified and re-fabricated Indian Naval Seaking Helicopter is positioned in the Academy premises - a unique facility for conducting helicopter related and emergency response safety training courses with much needed realism. The nearby naval helicopter base is used to familiarise candidates with aspects of Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations, air communications and preparations for helicopter landing operations.

Fire Fighting
Spread over approximately 4 acres, the Fire Fighting Hard at Karanja (Uran) is equipped with three distinct facilities -
a ship’s mock-up chamber
a smoke chamber
a mock-up helicopter
These three facilities are utilised for conducting demonstrations and practical fire fighting as a part of basic and advanced STCW Fire fighting courses, Offshore emergency response courses and helicopter safety courses. Candidates are conveyed to the practical site by a ferry craft and are trained under the watchful eyes of an experienced Chief Engineer and eight fire fighting Instructors having more than 25 years of experience in the Indian Navy.

Swimming Pool
An Olympic size swimming pool of the Indian Navy is used to conduct abandon ship and survival drills using 20/10 men inflated life rafts. Helicopter Underwater Escape Training supervised by experienced instructors and assisted by life guards and naval divers is also conducted at this pool.

Marine Boats & Survival Crafts
Boat handling practice and rescue operation drills for candidates are conducted in the confined and safe waters of the Naval Dockyard and Indian Navy Watermanship Training Centre (INWTC). Two 40 men capacity Totally Enclosed Motor Propelled Survival Crafts (TEMPSCs) with associated lowering/hoisting arrangements, two Fast Rescue Boats (RIBs) with powerful in board engines and steering system and a six men capacity Survival Craft with powerful OBM, enable candidates to independently handle the boats in a conducive marine environment. A standby safety boat, naval divers and swimmers are always standby to assist in any eventuality of a man over board when drills that involve rescue operations and uprighting a capsized boat are undertaken.

Demonstration Room
The Academy has two well equipped Demonstration Rooms in which articles/equipment/items that add to training value are displayed.

Offshore Platform Models
A scaled model of the Neelam Oil field production platform located in a purpose built model room is an excellent training aid for first time candidates who are being inducted into an offshore environment. This is supplemented through an innovatively designed mock up model of a production platform with a control room to further familiarise candidates with offshore safety and enable conduct of emergency response drills.
